Zebrane w książce teksty są podsumowaniem pracy autora jako producenta filmów dokumentalnych (1995–2016). W publikacji omówiona została sytuacja na rynku filmowym w latach 2005–2022, po wejściu w życie Ustawy o kinematografii, na mocy której powstał Polski Instytut Sztuki Filmowej. Autor analizuje mechanizmy funkcjonujące w środowisku twórców i podkreśla, że osiągnięcie sukcesu wymaga współpracy z innymi podmiotami, m.in. osobami badającymi rynek czy piszącymi o filmach. Zgodnie z podejściem prezentowanym przez badacza, ważnym elementem przedmiotowego statutu filmów dokumentalnych jest dialog z widzami – film powinien być traktowany jako narzędzie komunikacji. ****** Polish Documentary Film after 2005. The Idea and the Experience The texts collected in the book are a summary of the author’s work as a documentary film producer (2005–2016). The book explores the situation in the film industry in 2002–2005, after the implementation of the Act on Cinematography, which resulted in forming Polish Film Institute. The author analyses the mechanisms functioning among the filmmakers, and stresses that achieving success requires cooperation with other entities, e.g. those researching the market or writing about films. In his opinion, a very important element of the subjective status of documentaries is the dialogue with the viewers – a film should be treated as a communication tool.
